His early life in Clear Lake City, a suburb of Houston, was influenced by a unique blend of scientific and artistic environments, thanks to his parents' careers in aeronautical engineering and jewelry design. These early influences nurtured a keen appreciation for detail and creativity in him. His high school years were marked by active engagement in sports, fostering leadership and teamwork skills that would later become cornerstones of his professional life.

After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1991, he embarked on an academic journey at the University of Texas in Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Polymers from Florida State University in 2000, setting a solid foundation for his future career endeavors.

His professional voyage commenced at Mosaic Technologies in Waltham, Massachusetts. Here, as a Senior Scientist, he made significant strides, particularly in developing a novel 3-D biopolymer substrate for microarray fabrication, marking the start of an illustrious career. He continued his professional growth through various roles at Matrix Technologies, Apogent Technologies, and Fisher Scientific, enhancing his scientific acumen and leadership prowess.

In 2005, Dr. Brian Patterson joined Agilent Technologies as a Genomics Field Applications Scientist. He quickly rose to prominence within the company, serving as a Product Specialist and then as a District Manager. His notable contributions were recognized with the prestigious President's Club award in 2009 and 2014. From 2015 to 2022, he was an integral Associate Vice President within Agilent's Diagnostics and Genomics Group, successfully leading three commercial channels and establishing the Corporate Accounts channel.
